Event Impact Model

Conferences, like many other events, generate measurable economic impacts in the regions in which they are held. The impacts stem primarily from:

  • Non-local delegate expenditures in the region arising from the conference; and
  • Organiser expenditures in the region related to the conference.

Charles Sturt University (CSU) commissioned Western Research Institute (WRI) to develop a model through which the indicative impacts of hosting a conference or a seminar, workshop, lecture and training program in a regional centre can be estimated.

CSU provides this modelling tool as a free service as part of our commitment to encouraging growth in our regional economies.
