Unless indicated to the contrary all award and prize winners receive an inscribed certificate issued by the University in addition to a direct deposit into their bank account of the award or prize or in addition to some other benefit conferred by the award or prize. The value of an award or prize may be changed without notice.
All awards and prizes are presented annually, although a particular award or prize may be withheld in a particular year if there is no candidate worthy of the award or prize or if it is not funded by the donor for that year.
Unless indicated to the contrary students do not have to apply to be considered for an award or prize.
There are generally only three (3) types of prizes awarded:
School Prize – an award given to a student for meritorious performance in some aspect of their course;
Faculty Prize - an award which may be won by students of one Faculty only.
University Prize – an award which may be won by students from any Faculty of the University.
Prizes may be awarded to recognise one or more of the following:
• merit in a subject;
• merit in a group of subjects;
• merit in practical work, industrial experience, etc;
• merit in a stage or year of a course; or
• merit in a course.
Where a donor, or School/Faculty, wishes some other form of achievement to be recognised, this will require the approval of the Academic Senate, on the advice of the Faculty Board.
The University may administer a prize on behalf of a donor provided the regulations governing the award of the prize have been approved by the Academic Senate, for a University prize, or a Faculty Board for School/Faculty prizes.
Awards and prizes won by graduating students are normally presented at graduation ceremonies; and those won by continuing students will be presented by their individual school held on the relevant campus at either a prizes ceremony or Deans Awards Ceremony. However, some professional bodies may wish to present their award or prize at their own function.

Since the prizes have been decentralised and are now processed within each School/Faculty, any further information about individual awards or prizes and/or enquiries from prospective sponsors should be directed to each individual School/Faculty Office.
All new prizes should be added by Schools or Faculties through CASIMS and any changes to and removal of existing prizes should also be changed through the CASIMS.
If you experience any problems with the approval process within CASIMS you can contact this office at oag@csu.edu.au.
