The Delegations Project commenced 2 ½ years ago with the aim of devolving greater responsibility within the organisation and ensuring all authorities were properly documented and reflected the levels of authority needed to manage the University in a contemporary environment.
At its meeting held 19 July 2009 the University Council approved the new Policy on Delegations and Authorisations including schedules 1 to 8.
Stage One of the project involved documenting core delegations (strategy, finance, human resources, legal) and included a review of all policies and procedures to see if they reflect current practice or requirements.
Stage Two will collate all non-core delegations and academic delegations with these being presented to Council between now and the end of the year, as a series of new schedules (eg. media, marketing, IT, student admissions etc).
