GOTAFE Scholarship

Am I Eligible?

To apply, you must:

1. have completed or be completing a TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma; and
2. be enrolled in a commonwealth supported undergraduate course through CSU's Wangaratta GOTAFE campus; and
   
3. where applicable, provide a certified copy of Academic Transcripts that show the completion of the Diploma or Advanced Diploma, Academic Transcript showing your Grade Point Average (GPA) for University studies or Year 12 Certificate showing your ATAR; and
4. have achieved one of the following:
   
   (a) graduated with Distinction or High Distinction in a TAFE Diploma/Advanced Diploma; OR
   
   (b) have achieved a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3 and above with University level studies OR
   
   (c) completed Year 12 Secondary studies and achieved an ATAR of 70 and above (inclusive of the regional bonus); OR
   
   (d) be able to demonstrate high level of industry experience and expertise in the workplace; OR
   
   (e) have completed or be completing an diploma or advanced diploma with TAFE , PLUS must also  demonstrate financial hardship (low socio-economic circumstances) by being in receipt of a means tested Centrelink Benefit or if not in receipt of Centrelink Benefits complete the Financial Hardship section in the application form and be assessed as having low socio-economic circumstances or financial hardship by the CSU Scholarship Office.

5. be an Australian citizen, or a permanent Australian resident, or the holder of a permanent  humanitarian visa; and

6. not be in receipt of other scholarships greater than the value of $7,500 per annum.

Ongoing Eligibility

To retain your scholarship for the next and subsequent session's payment, you need to:

• Remain enrolled as a part-time or fulltime students through CSU's Wangaratta GOTAFE Campus; and
• maintain a GPA of 3 and above in the CSU course; an
• Citizenship and residency status remains eligible.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my application was submitted successfully

You will receive an email acknowledging submission, once you complete the application form and click submit button on the last page of the application form.

What if I didn't receive the email receipt when I submitted by application?

It might take up to 24 hours for your email receipt to come through.

• Have you checked your spam or junk mail folder?
• Did you provide the correct email address?

If you still haven't received the receipt after 24 hours, send an email to scholarships.officer@csu.edu.au, quoting the submission number (if you got one), your name and DOB.

Can I half complete my application and then finish it a couple of days later?

• Yes you can, provided it will be before the application deadline. 
• You don't click SUBMIT to do this, you click the SAVE button on each page of the application form that you have entered any information.   This will allow you to keep the information you have already put into the form, then exit the application and your information is saved.
• If after you click save at any time, it takes you back to the application portal, refresh the page and then click on your ID link to re-enter the application if you wish to continue entering information onto the form. 
• To get back to your application form, you then (using the same login you used to get to the application form initially), go to your scholarship applications and choose the application you have saved and then complete it.

How and when do I know if I was successful or unsuccessful?

You will receive an outcome notice by email by 1 Mar 2013

What if I am successful?

• The Successful Outcome Notice will outline how you accept your offer online.
• If you are successful payments will occur via electronic funds transfer (EFT) payable at half the annual scholarship value in each of the selected sessions.
• Payments are made within 3-4 weeks from the sessions Census Date.

Do I have to be fulltime studying on campus to be eligible for this scholarship?

The GOTAFE Scholarship is available to part-time or full-time students and also available to students whether you are studying on-campus or by distance education mode.

Is the Part-time payment different to the fulltime payment?

While the total value of the scholarship is $5,000 the payment rates differ according to the enrollment load for each student.

• For part-time students in 2013 the CSU 'GOTAFE' Scholarship is valued at $1,250 per annum and is paid in eight (8) equal instalments ($625 each session) over 4 years.
  

• For fulltime students in 2013 the CSU 'GOTAFE' Scholarship is valued at $2,500 per annum and is paid in four (4) equal instalments ($1,250 each session) over two years.

A full time student is enrolled to undertake an amount of study of at least three quarters (or 75%) of an equivalent full-time study load (EFTSL). This equates to three (8 point) subjects or 24 subject points or more per session.

A part-time student is enrolled in less than 24 subject points per session.

How to Apply

You will need copies* of the following documents before you begin the application process

Either:

1. a certified copy of transcripts, showing the completion of the Diploma or Advanced Diploma OR
2. an Academic Transcript showing your Grade Point Average (GPA) for University studies; or
3. A Year 12 Certificate showing your ATAR; or
4. Copy of Workplace references and/or recommendations, citations or certificates of professional attainment and a resume outlining your professional experience, etc.

If you receive a means-tested Centrelink benefit

• Your current Centrelink Income Statement

If you are claiming low income (but are not receiving a Centrelink benefit)

• Health Care Card (if you have one)
• Most recent Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment
• Most recent payslip including Year To Date earnings

*You must provide scanned copies to be uploaded and submitted with your application. Documents can be provided in PDF, JPG, DOC or TIFF format.
