Provides financial assistance towards On Campus Accommodation for 1st year, Undergraduate, Commonwealth Supported students receiving a Centrelink Benefit who must relocate to attend CSU and will be residing in CSU on-campus residences
Am I Eligible?
To apply, you must be:
- currently enrolled as an active first year commonwealth supported (HECS) undergraduate student in an award courses at CSU; and
- relocating more than 100km to take up on-campus accommodation at a CSU university residence (Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Wagga Wagga only) to commence study in Session 1 2013. Higher assessment ranking is given to students who relocate from regional/remote areas of Australia*.
- receiving a Centrelink Income Support Payment; and
- Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or the holder of an Australian Humanitarian Visa
If you receive the Centrelink Relocation Scholarship you can still apply for the Relocation Equity Grant, however students who do not receive this scholarship will be given preference in the assessment ranking.

Relocation Equity Grant Guidelines - 2012
1. General
The Relocation Equity Grant Program provides financial assistance for eligible first year students who must relocate location to reside in on-campus university residences to commence study at CSU.
2. Assistance provided
- Successful applicants will receive a grant of up to $1500, paid into their CSU Student Account to be credited against their residences costs.
- Applicants are limited to one grant during their enrolment at CSU.
- 47 Relocation Equity Grants are available for 2013. All grants will be allocated in 1st Session 2013.
3. Eligibility
- Applicant must be currently enrolled as an active first year commonwealth supported (HECS) undergraduate student in an award courses at CSU; and
- Applicants must be receiving a Centrelink Income Support Payment; and
- Applicant must provide proof of financial hardship (Centrelink income statement); and
- Applicant must be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or holder of an Australian Humanitarian Visa
- Consideration will be given of home (not session) postcode in order to ascertain regional and remote status; and
- Applications are assessed according to eligibility criteria; and
- You may be assessed as eligible but may not receive a grant if the quota has been exhausted; and
- Successful applicants agree to provide feedback and for it to be used for promotional purposes (no names will be used); and
4. Criteria for award of assistance
- Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria including experiencing low socio-economic circumstances; and
- Successful applicants are required to relocate over 100km to take up on-campus accommodation at a CSU university residence to commence study in Session 1 2013 (session 201330)
- Applicants are required to reside on campus for Session 1 2013 (session 201330)
- CSU reserves the right to charge the students account the total of the grant allocated if a student leaves the University prior to 201330 HECS Census date, or if a student is no longer deemed eligible. Appeals to this decision can be made as per guidelines outlined below.
- If an applicant moves out of a CSU university residence in 201330, they will be required to prove due cause as to why they should not have to reimburse the University for the funding or residual funding they have already received as part of the Relocation Equity Grant.
Appeal guidelines are as follows:
- If a student moves off campus, they will be required to show due cause (in writing) within 7 days of moving off campus as to why they should not be required to repay the grant in full
- Appeals must fully establish and substantiate the basis for this appeal
- The Appeals Committee will be made up of the , Team Leader Scholarships, Scholarship Officer and the Manager Access and Support
- The Appeals Committee may vary the repayment amount and take any other action that they deem appropriate
- Once an appeal meeting is held, the Appeals Committee will advise the applicant of the outcome within six working days
- Any repayment that is required to be made must be made within two weeks of the date of the notification

What if I am successful?
$1500 will be deposited to your CSU Accommodation account before the second payment due date. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the balance of ALL Accommodation fees due are paid prior to installment dates.

If you receive a means-tested Centrelink benefit
- Your current Centrelink Income Statement
If you are claiming low socio-economic circumstances (or low income but are not receiving a Centrelink benefit)
- Complete the Financial Hardship section in the application form; and
Provide the required documentation as outlined in the application form, for example
- Health Care Card (if you have one); and
- Most recent Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment for you and the persons who support you; and
- Two most recent payslip which include Year To Date earnings, for you and the persons who support you; and
- other types of coumentation that support your low socio-economic status, i.e. Family Tax Benefit A or B (FTB A or B) statements, etc.
