DE Textbook Equity Grant

provides financial assistance to purchase compulsory textbooks to meet course requirements


Eligibility for 2013 Applications

To apply, you must be:

  1. an active student who commenced studies at CSU in Session 1 or 2, 2013
  2. enrolled in an undergraduate course
  3. studying by Distance Education (all subjects)
  4. a commonwealth supported student (HECS/HECS-HELP)
  5. an Australian citizen, permanent resident or holder of a humanitarian visa
  6. not have received a CSU DE Textbook Equity Grant previously
  7. able to prove low socio-economic circumstances by being in receipt of a Centrelink Living Allowance, i.e. Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY, Parenting Payment, Carers Allowance, Carers Payment, Disability Support Pension, etc.. OR be able to prove being in receipt of a low income by providing a copy of your latest ATO Notice of Assessment and your last two pay notices.

The fine print

  • Successful applicants will receive a credit of $300 if a member of the Uni Co-Op Bookshop to their member account; or
  • if not a Uni Co-Op Bookshop member, a $300 grant is received, with $20 put toward their Uni Co-Op Bookshop membership and a credit to the value of $280 to their member account;
  • Successful applicants are entitled to one (1) Grant
  • The CSU Student Services Office will not be liable for any delays in dispatch of textbooks or incorrect textbook details provided to the Co-op Bookshop
  • You may be assessed as eligible but unfortunately may not receive a grant if the quota has been exhausted
  • Successful applicants agree to provide feedback and for it to be used for promotional purposes (no names will be used)
  • Supporting documentation must be submitted with your application.  Unfortunately if not received your application may be assessed as ineligible.

I didn't receive the email receipt when I submitted by application?
It might take up to 24 hours for your email receipt to come through.

  • Have you checked your spam or junk mail folder?
  • Did you provide the correct email address?

If you still haven't received the receipt after 24 hours, send an email to ask@csu.edu.au, quoting the submission number (if you got one), your name and DOB.

I don't have my supporting documentation available right now

You can save the application and return to it when you have the documentation available. You must still submit the application with all required documentation by the closing date.

When do I hear if my application has been successful or not?

Normally you will receive an outcome notice from 2-3 weeks from receipt of your application.

If you are successful a $300 co-op bookshop credit will be credited to your Co-op Bookshop member account.

You need copies* of the following documents before you begin the application process

If you receive a means-tested Centrelink benefit

  • Your current Centrelink Income Statement

If you are claiming low income (but are not receiving a Centrelink benefit)

  • Complete the Financial Hardship Form [PDF] and upload it with your application
  • Health Care Card (if you have one)
  • Most recent Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment
  • Most recent payslip including Year To Date earnings

*You must provide scanned copies to be uploaded and submitted with your application. Documents can be provided in PDF, JPG, DOC or TIFF format.
