Bachelor of Applied Science (Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism)

CSU's Bachelor of Applied Science (Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism) gives you the opportunity to develop skills to run outdoor education and recreation activities, adventure and fitness programs, and lead tours to wild or remote areas of Australia. You'll graduate with the skills to share our natural environment with others, while respecting and protecting cultural and environmental diversity.

The course offers minor studies in Indigenous and Cultural Heritage, Outdoor Recreation and Wildlife and Conservation. Students who choose the Outdoor Recreation stream will complete a TAFE component as part of the course.

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism) - articulated program

    CSU has developed an articulated program with TAFE NSW and Wodonga Institute of TAFE for students who wish to complete the Bachelor of Applied Science (Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism). Articulated programs, which enable students to study and complete qualifications at TAFE first and then go on to complete their CSU study, are suited to current and graduate TAFE students, school leavers, those interested in changing careers, or those who work in the industry but have limited formal qualifications.

    If you hold a completed Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation or a  Diploma of Outdoor Recreation you may be eligible to receive credit for your prior study towards the Bachelor of Applied Science (Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism). 

    You will then complete a further CSU subjects to graduate with the Bachelor of Applied Science (Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism). The course can be completed in six years of part-time study, or you may be able to study full-time in years three and four to fast-track your degree.

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism) - TAFE integrated program
    Wodonga TAFE logoCSU in Albury-Wodonga offers an integrated program in Outdoor Recreation, with a co-enrolment with Wodonga Institute of TAFE, enabling you to graduate with a number of recognised qualifications. The Bachelor of Applied Science (Outdoor Recreation and Ecotourism) integrated program is designed to enable you to complete TAFE and University study at the same time. Graduates of this course will receive a Certificate IV Diploma in  Outdoor Recreation in addition to their degree.

    Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation will be taught across all years of the course, through the Wodonga Institute of TAFE, and will be delivered in conjunction with the CSU components of the course.

    For students based at Albury-Wodonga, the CSU components of the course will be delivered at CSU's Albury-Wodonga Campus, and the TAFE components will be taught at the Wodonga TAFE campus and in the surrounding region (depending on the outdoor hands-on activity).

    For students based at Port Macquarie, the CSU components of the course will be delivered at CSU's Port Macquarie Campus, and the TAFE components will be delivered by Wodonga TAFE staff situated at Port Macquarie, online delivery, and field activities in the surrounding region (depending on the outdoor hands-on activity).

    TAFE-specific scholarships are available for students in this course.
