CSU's Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics concentrates on practical skills, enabling students to use statistical analysis to solve a variety of problems using modern techniques and software packages.
CSU's Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics is designed to allow professionals from varied backgrounds to deepen their statistical analysis knowledge. Students will use this knowledge to solve practical problems in work contexts as diverse as agriculture, business, health and science. Students are introduced to a statistical package in the core subject and this is used extensively in all subsequent subjects to solve more advanced problems.
This course is available by distance education only and is offered across a two session academic year with sessions commencing in February and July each year. Subjects are taught using a range of blended learning techniques, including distance education study materials, video-captured lectures, online meetings, subject forums and additional study resources. Our flexible learning environment allows students to study this course by distance education from anywhere in the world.
The Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics has a minimum part-time duration of three sessions. However, actual duration is dependent on subject availability and the session of commencement.
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 32 points (four subjects).
For each 8 point subject at CSU, students should normally expect to spend between 140-160 hours engaged in the specified learning and assessment activities (such as attending lectures or residential schools, assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, assignments or examinations). The student workload for some subjects may vary from these norms as a result of approved course design.
Students will be assessed on the basis of completed assignments, examinations, workplace learning, or other methods as outlined in specific subject outlines.
Where applicable, students are responsible for travel and accommodation costs involved in workplace learning experiences, or attending residential schools (distance education students).
Expectations relating to academic, workplace learning, time and cost requirements for specific subjects are provided in the subject abstracts and in course materials.
