The course provides teachers with basic training in special education and the opportunity to increase their status in the teaching profession, obtain four-year trained salaries, increase eligibility for promotion and gain recognition as a teacher with inclusive education professional qualifications.
All CSU qualifications in the area of special education bear nomenclature related to inclusion. This reflects contemporary practice in the field and positions graduates at the forefront of current thinking while retaining a broad-based focus on the traditional scope of preparation in special education.
The development of practical skills is a vital component of this course. Students already employed in some capacity in the field may complete the practicum requirements within their current teaching role if there are children requiring special education in the class.
Note: Candidates may choose to make application to transfer to the Master of Education (Inclusive Education) after having completed the first four subjects at a credit or higher average.
