Course structure

Graduate Certificate in Information Systems Security

The course consists of four subjects (32 points) that satisfy the following conditions:

1. Students must successfully complete two subjects from the pool of CSU subjects offered in the Master of Database Design and Management (see the list of CSU restricted subjects below)

2. Students must complete two subjects selected from the same industry-based elective stream from those available in the Master of Database Design and Management.

Master of Information Systems Security

The course consists of four core subjects, an industry-based stream (48 points) and two restricted electives. The total value of the course is 96 points.

Stage one

Consists of 48 points comprised of 32 points of core subjects and 16 points of restricted electives from the following list.

Core of 32 points:
ITC506 Topics in IT Ethics
ITC593 Network Security
ITC595 Information Security
ITC596 IT Risk Management
Plus two subjects (16 points) from:
ITC505 Systems Development Project Management
ITC514 Network and Security Administration
ITC516 Principles of Database Development
ITC563 IT Management Issues
ITC566 Human Computer Usability

Stage two

An industry-based elective stream worth 48 points. Currently, there are two elective streams that consist of industry certified subjects whose content may vary over time as the technology changes. The intent is to offer the most up-to-date combination possible.

The streams currently consist of Microsoft MCSE Security stream and Multi Platform Security stream (see www.itmasters.com.au for further information on the streams)
