**Note MRS540 commences in session 1 and is completed in session 3. This is acceptable with Student Administration. The subject is offered in two stand alone modules so students will not be disadvantaged by the session gap. It is not viable to offer MRS544 and PHY541 in two sessions each year and MRS547 should not be studied prior to PHY541. As such it is the optimumal enrolment pattern for those students wishing to commence study in July.

The Master, Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower level course.
Charles Sturt University has entered into an agreement with the Australian School of Medical Imaging to provide a pathway for entry for students into the CSU courses, as well as providing a mechanism for independent clinical examination of the students sonographic skills.
A further agreement has been entered into with the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine where students who have completed their Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography will be eligible for up to 50% credit in the Masters of Medical Ultrasound course.
The courses are accredited by the Australasian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (ASAR) until 2012. Sonographers must have undertaken an accredited qualification in order to be eligible for the status of Accredited Medical Sonographer (AMS). Student sonographers undertaking an accredited course are eligible to enter the Register as Accredited Student Sonographer (ASS). The Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care requires sonographers performing ultrasound examinations on behalf of medical practitioners to be accredited as part of the Medicare Benefits Schedule regulations.
