Course structure

To graduate with the Master of Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship) students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 12 subjects (or 96 subject points).

Students enrolled in this program who do not wish to continue on to Stage two of the course will be able to exit with the Graduate Diploma of Education (Teacher Librarianship) after successful completion of Stage one (64 subject points).

Students may elect to exit at this point and graduate with the award Graduate Diploma of Education (Teacher Librarianship).

Students cannot progress to Stage two until completion of Stage one or approval by the Course Coordinator.

Master of Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship) (Stage two)

Stage two is targeted to meet the needs of qualified teacher librarians seeking to develop a personal stance of proactivity and dynamism in the creation of a future for school library information services, extending the practitioners skills to develop strategic alliances and build influence within the education and information sectors.

Continuing students select and undertake four of the following six subjects:
ETL521 Teacher Librarian in the Learning Community
ETL523 Information Policy Issues
ETL525 Knowledge Management
INF501 Readings in Information Studies
INF511 Advanced Information Retrieval
ITC510 Online Communities

Teachers holding a Graduate Diploma in Teacher Librarianship entering the course at this point complete either four or five of the above subjects, depending on the currency of prior qualifications and experience and the amount of credit awarded for the prior qualifications/experience.
