The Graduate Certificate in University Learning and teaching offers a formal qualification in university learning and teaching that will provide opportunities to strengthen learning and teaching theory and practice.

About the course

The course will engage learners with a broad view of university learning and teaching, as well as developments in their discipline and professional practice communities. Students will strengthen their capacity to engage in, and contribute to, debates and improvements in their institutions and to national and international scholarly discussion.

The course considers issues such as the nature of university education, models of teaching and learning, supervision of postgraduate students, resource-based learning, and professional development. The Graduate Certificate has components for new academics as well as for more senior staff seeking professional refreshment and intellectual stimulation.

Credit

Students who have successfully completed the Tertiary Teaching Colloquium available to teaching staff at Charles Sturt University will be awarded credit for the subject EEL409 University Learning and Teaching

Practicum

There is no practicum requirement in this course.

Residential schools

Residential schools involved in this course will provide:

  1. Scaffolding opportunities for participants to complete their subject assessments
  2. Space for scholarly interchange regarding learning and teaching
  3. Opportunity for the creation of a community of practice.

Graduation requirements

To graduate, students must successfully complete 32 points.
