If you are contemplating an academic career you are strongly advised to complete an Honours degree.
The Honours year involves the completion of two subjects that address current issues in theory, practice and research; one subject concerned with how to do research; one statistics subject; and a research thesis. It can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.
The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) (Honours) degree is accredited by CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Graduates are eligible for associate membership of CPA Australia (ASA), which is a requirement for entry into the CPA program. Graduates are eligible to enter the CA Program conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
Graduates are eligible to join the Association of Taxation and Management Accountants at the Member level, without further study.
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 64 points (five subjects). The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) (Honours) degree may be awarded in the following classes: Class 1; Class 2, Division 1; Class 2, Division 2; Class 3.
As a graduate of the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) (Honours) course you are eligible for credit in the Master of Commerce (Accounting).
