CSU’s Bachelor of Business (Agricultural Commerce) course fosters leadership, sustainability and the management of the complex global industry known as agribusiness.  

About the course

The agribusiness sector is Australia’s largest and most vibrant industry sector, providing a broad range of exciting career opportunities. This specialisation in CSU’s Bachelor of Business provides a critical stepping-stone to a varied career by providing you with a strong foundation in agribusiness.

Where it will take you

Careers in agribusiness are not necessarily involved in production agriculture.

Employment opportunities range from the rural service industries of regional Australia to international trade and finance activities undertaken by multinational corporations. Your options will be many as you acquire expertise in marketing, accounting, finance, people management, international business and sustainable resource management.

The high demand for graduates of this program means many have offers of permanent employment prior to graduation.

Students who undertake a joint study in accounting may be considered as satisfying membership requirements of CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.

Graduation requirements

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 192 points (24 subjects). These subjects are a combination of core subjects, specialisation subjects and electives. Students will graduate from the Bachelor of Business (Agricultural Commerce) with the award BBus(AgricCom).

All distance education students are required to have access to a personal computer (IBM PC or compatible) and spreadsheet software capable of reading Excel and/or Lotus 1-2-3 files. It is recommended that distance education students have access to appropriate hardware and software to enable them to communicate electronically with the University. The current specifications are available upon request.

Meritorious students may apply for acceptance into the Bachelor of Business (Honours) program.

Previous studies

Previous studies include:

NSW and interstate school leavers are normally selected on the basis of their Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) or interstate equivalent. You may also be admitted on the basis of a strong performance in subjects relevant to your course preferences.

Currently no secondary school subjects are prerequisites for admission to particular CSU courses however some courses assume a certain level of knowledge. This will be specified in the course information if applicable.

CSU places great emphasis on services to its students. It is a leader in the provision of online services and, in particular, the use of the internet in the support of teaching, administration and communications with students.

The online environment is so integrated into all aspects of student life and the learning experience at CSU that the University now assumes that all on campus and distance education students at CSU will have ongoing access to an internet connected computer capable of communicating with CSU online systems.

Students enrolled in Information Technology subjects (i.e. with an ITC subject code) may be required to have additional hardware and/or software that is deemed essential for the completion of the learning activities in that subject.
