Bachelor of Business Studies [Crows Nest]

TAFE articulated program

Become a business professional

CSU's Bachelor of Business Studies at Northern Sydney Institute provides a flexible, generalist undergraduate degree, with a wide range of opportunities and choices available to graduates.

CSU has developed an articulated program with TAFE NSW Northern Sydney Institute (NSI) for students who wish to complete the Bachelor Business Studies.

Students study the Business Studies program on campus at NSI's Crows Nest college, and complete qualifications from both NSI and CSU.

This course allows you to construct a program of study that best meets your interests and future work plans. The course draws upon the extensive portfolio of subjects offered by CSU’s Faculty of Business and TAFE’s advanced diplomas, as well as subject offerings of other CSU Faculties.

Articulated programs, which enable students to study and complete qualifications at TAFE first and then go on to complete their CSU study, are suited to current and graduate TAFE students, school leavers, those interested in changing careers, or those who work in the industry but have limited formal study.

Course structure

In the first two years of study, students complete one of the advanced diplomas listed below. They then complete CSU's Bachelor of Business Studies in their third and final year of study.

If NSI students have already completed one of the advanced diplomas listed below, they can simply enrol and complete the CSU component of the program, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Studies.

Advanced Diplomas included in this program:

  • Advanced Diploma of Accounting
  • Advanced Diploma of Business
  • Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management
  • Advanced Diploma of Human Resources
  • Advanced Diploma of Management
  • Advanced Diploma of Marketing
  • Advanced Diploma of Tourism Management

TAFE-specific scholarships are available for students in this course.

  2. Gain practical experience as you study
  3. Study on campus at Northern Sydney Institute.

Graduation requirements

Students receive 128 points credit for successful completion of the Diploma of Business Studies. They must then complete a further 64 points through CSU to graduate with the Bachelor of Business Studies.

Academic expectations

For each 8 point subject at CSU, students should normally expect to spend between 140-160 hours engaged in the specified learning and assessment activities (such as attending lectures or residential schools, assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, assignments or examinations). The student workload for some subjects may vary from these norms as a result of approved course design.

Students will be assessed on the basis of completed assignments, examinations, workplace learning, or other methods as outlined in specific subject outlines.

Where applicable, students are responsible for travel and accommodation costs involved in workplace learning experiences, or attending residential schools (distance education students).

Expectations relating to academic, workplace learning, time and cost requirements for specific subjects are provided in the subject outlines and in course materials.
