Bachelor of Creative Industries
CSU's Bachelor of Creative Industries enables students with a TAFE Diploma to upgrade their qualifications in a range of media, communication and creative areas of practice. It provides industry practitioners with critical and contextual understandings to inform their practice and cross-over skills to related areas within cultural industries.
Upgrade your qualifications
CSU's Bachelor of Creative Industries has been developed in direct response to the number of students who wish to study at university after completing TAFE Diplomas in creative industries.
The course enables students to gain the skills to advance their careers and upgrade their qualifications with substantial credit for their TAFE qualifications.
You will complete subjects relating to contemporary art, ethics in creative industries, and visual communication. You will also develop a portfolio and complete research in an area of interest, culminating in the production of a major work or body of works.
TAFE articulation and credit
The Bachelor of Creative Industries is offered as an articulated program on campus at Port Macquarie Campus for graduates of TAFE NSW North Coast Institute for students who hold a relevant Diploma from another institution. Full-time and part-time study options are available, allowing you the flexibility to choose a study load that suits your lifestyle, family and work commitments.
The articulated program is available to students who have completed one of the following TAFE Diplomas:
- Diploma of Fashion Design and Technology
- Diploma of Graphic Design and Communication
- Diploma of Interactive Digital Media
- Diploma of Screen and Media
- Diploma of Sound Production
Upon entry to this course, you will receive credit for your TAFE qualification, equivalent to 16 standard CSU subjects. You will then complete a further four 8 point subjects and two 16 point subjects to graduate with the Bachelor of Creative Industries, in one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study.
TAFE-specific scholarships are available for students in this course.
Academic expectations
For each 8 point subject at CSU, students should normally expect to spend between 140-160 hours engaged in the specified learning and assessment activities (such as attending lectures or residential schools, assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, assignments or examinations). The student workload for some subjects may vary from these norms as a result of approved course design.
Students will be assessed on the basis of completed assignments, examinations, workplace learning, or other methods as outlined in specific subject outlines.
Where applicable, students are responsible for travel and accommodation costs involved in workplace learning experiences, or attending residential schools (distance education students).
Expectations relating to academic, workplace learning, time and cost requirements for specific subjects are provided in the subject abstracts and in course materials.
Credit
Credit is available to students from TAFE NSW North Coast Institute, or any other TAFE, who have completed one of the following:
