Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years)

Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years) [exit point only]

All students receive a standard entry level credit package of 128 points, represented as EDU14C Early Childhood Studies, based on prior qualifications.

The order of subject selection is largely flexible, with the only requirement being that students complete the relevant curriculum subjects before undertaking professional placement subjects.

The Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years) consists of the following ten (10) subjects required for the Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years) exit point, plus an additional six (6) subjects two (2) of which are compulsory and four (4) electives.

Students who enter the Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years) program following completion of the Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years) or equivalent at another University will be required to complete 8 of the subjects listed above. All such students receive a standard entry level credit package of 192 points, represented as EDU15C Early Childhood Studies, based on prior qualifications.

The following subject is the key subject for Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years) effective from 201230:

EEB309 Wellness and Wellbeing

This subject is the introduction to pre-service teacher education studies and is the transition subject from TAFE Diploma studies to University. It provides students with skills and strategies to be successful in this transition.

All students receive a standard entry level credit package of 128 points (equivalent to eight sessions part-time), represented as EDU14C Early Childhood Studies Credit, for prior qualifications.

Articulation

The Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years) is part of an articulated set which incorporates the Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years) which is currently an exit point only of the degree.

Professional recognition

The Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to 5 Years) are courses that are recognised by the Department of Human Services (Children’s Services Directorate) (NSW) and in Victoria are approved by Early Childhood Australia.
