What is this course about?

CSU's Bachelor of Education (K-12 Middle Schooling) prepares graduates for flexible practice as teachers in both primary and secondary school settings.

About the course

The aim of this course is to produce teacher ready individuals who are reflective in their practice, will manage the changing nature of teaching, have well developed interpersonal skills, a commitment to lifelong learning and desire to put current developments in learning and teaching into practice.

Graduates from the Bachelor of Education (K-12 Middle Schooling) program will have a high school major in either Business Studies, Mathematics, English or History. The option of concurrently enrolling in the Graduate Certificate in Secondary Education allows candidates a second high school specialist area and five year teacher registration. The minor high school specialisation will be in either Economics, Information Technology, History, Geography or English.

Candidates will be a specialist in issues related to adolescence, transition, community and teaching practice. This course  provides the opportunity to develop  an understanding of relationships and community building  with extensive professional experience placements in a variety of primary and secondary settings. This innovative course will give graduates the skills to be able to work with adolescent students in a changing society.

This course involves compulsory Session 3 enrolments where indicated in the course structure. Please ensure that for these specific sessions you are prepared to be enrolled in all three sessions for the calendar year.

Professional experience

Extensive professional experience in a variety of primary and secondary settings  are included with this course.

Students are advised to obtain a Senior First Aid Certificate and immunisations/screenings against infectious diseases (in accordance with NSW Health policy) prior to commencing school placements (see Additional Requirements).

Relevant police checks are compulsory (see Additional Requirements) and students are also responsible for any travel and accommodation expenses to and from their school placements.
