CSU's Bachelor of Science (Forensic Biotechnology) offers a pathway for graduates of the Ontario college Diploma in Biotechnology Technician (Health) or Diploma in Biotechnology Technician, or equivalent, to upgrade to a university qualification to enhance their career in forensic science, biotechnology or any field of medical research.
CSU's Bachelor of Science (Forensic Biotechnology) addresses the rapid technological changes and growth in the biotechnology and forensic industries worldwide. The program has been developed in consultation with industry bodies to provide graduates with skills and knowledge relevant to these fields now and into the future.
The program offers a solid base in the four key areas of biotechnology: molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology and microbiology. Graduates will be equipped with a sound understanding of recent trends and applications of technology in the biotechnology and forensic industries with special emphasis on DNA technology, bioinformatics and genomics.
Students may be able to receive financial assistance by applying for the Ontario Student Assistance Program, which is available for eligible students.
Students may have the opportunity to study abroad in Australia for one term. Undertaking a term in another country allows you to experience the industry under different laws and cultures to give you a global perspective as well as the opportunity to meet new people, enjoy a different environment and to develop confidence and capability. This course includes practical experience through workplace learning, in the form of a six-week professional placement.
There is an intake in Session 2 (July) for the bridging program.
CSU's Bachelor of Science (Forensic Biotechnology) is taught by industry experts, including members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), ensuring students gain real world, industry relevant knowledge and skills.
Applicants who have completed an Ontario college Diploma in Biotechnology Technician (Health) or Diploma in Biotechnology Technician, or equivalent, will be granted 96 points credit.
