Bachelor of Science (Forensic Biotechnology) - Ontario

Applicants for this course will be granted 96 points credit for previous study undertaken at Diploma level (Ontario College Diploma in Health Biotechnology Technician or Biotechnology Technician Ontario College Diploma).

Applicants who have completed the Biotechnology Technician Ontario College Diploma will undertake a bridging course consisting of the following two subjects:

  • BMS130 Physiological Sciences 2
  • FSC200 Introduction to Forensic Science

The course to be completed at CSU consists of

  • 128 points of core subjects,
  • 32 points of free elective subjects.

Free electives may be drawn from approved CSU subjects (offered by DE) or McMaster University (Ontario, Canada) subjects

Students are required to satisfactorily complete a 6 week Professional Placement relevant to the course, in order to meet the graduation requirements.

Articulation

This course is not an articulated set. The CASIMS course has been set up in this manner to enforce the connection between the Canadian 4 year course and the Local 3 year course. As such this is a course set consisting of the: Bachelor of Forensic Biotechnology - 3 years Bachelor of Science Forensic Biotechnology - 4 years Students CANNOT graduate with both awards.

Professional recognition

This course does not require professional accreditation. Students from the Bachelor of Forensic Biotechnology and BSc Forensic Biotechnology will be eligible for student membership into Canadian, Australian and other international Biotechnology and Forensic professional societies upon entry into the course.
