What is this course about?

CSU offers students the opportunity to enrol in a Bachelor of Hotel Management in Melbourne through its affiliation with Holmesglen Institute of TAFE.

Holmesglen logoEntry into CSU's Bachelor of Hotel Management at Holmesglen Institute of TAFE is through completion of the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality. 

The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality is offered at Holmesglen's Moorabbin and Waverley campuses, and CSU's Bachelor of Hotel Management is delivered at Holmesglen's Chadstone campus. Students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Hotel Management will receive this qualification from CSU.

Course structure

CSU's Bachelor of Hotel Management at Holmesglen is an articulated program made up of an Advanced Diploma from Holmesglen, followed by a further 1.5 years to complete the CSU degree. All study is undertaken at Holmesglen's campuses in Melbourne. After three years of full-time study, students will graduate with an Advanced Diploma from Holmesglen and the Bachelor of Hotel Management from CSU.

More information about the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality is available at Holmesglen's website . The Bachelor of Hotel Management is undertaken on satisfactory completion of the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality, and consists of eight core subjects and four electives.

Credit

Students may be granted up to 1.5 years of credit towards the Bachelor of Hotel Management for successful completion of the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality.

Academic expectations

For each 8 point subject at CSU, students should normally expect to spend between 140-160 hours engaged in the specified learning and assessment activities (such as attending lectures or residential schools, assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, assignments or examinations). The student workload for some subjects may vary from these norms as a result of approved course design.

Students will be assessed on the basis of completed assignments, examinations, workplace learning, or other methods as outlined in specific subject outlines.

Where applicable, students are responsible for travel and accommodation costs involved in workplace learning experiences, or attending residential schools (distance education students).

Expectations relating to academic, workplace learning, time and cost requirements for specific subjects are provided in the subject abstracts and in course materials.
