CSU’s Bachelor of Information Technology TAFE integrated programs are designed with flexibility in mind, and equips graduates with the skills and attributes required to be effective and efficient information technology professionals.
About the course
TAFE NSW Riverina Institute and Charles Sturt University have integrated the Diploma of Information Technology (Networking) (ICA5045) and Bachelor of Information Technology degree. The program is offered through Riverina Institute's Albury and Wagga Wagga Campuses.
Where it will take you
The Bachelor of Information Technology has recently undergone a major course review where input was received from industry partners, academic staff and past students. The course now contains a core of eight subject, a relevant IT major (eight subjects) and the opportunity to complete a minor of four subjects in any discipline area (including IT) plus four free electives. This new course will provide you with essential skills for the workplace.
The employment rate for graduates of this course is very high. Graduates may find employment as computing professionals in both the commercial and technical sectors of the computing industry. Employers might be in industry, commerce, small business, large financial enterprises, public utilities, government, education or welfare.
Graduates may also find careers in secondary and further education or go on to postgraduate research.
Your course is recognised by industry
The Australian Computer Society (ACS) accredits courses in Information Technology to verify that they meet professional standards in terms of content, staff skills, teaching facility and quality assurance. CSU has the highest level of accreditation, that is, accreditation at the professional level.
Students will be given the option to complete semesters 1 - 4 of the Cisco Networking Academy program.

To make sure you are experienced using the equipment and techniques found in the workplace our facilities include:
- extensive computing facilities
- laboratories networked to a variety of different types and sizes of computers
- internet access available at each machine
- study materials for many subjects are available online
Practical experience
The course places particular importance on practical experience, and all teaching involves industry standard hardware, software, methods and techniques. Students are encouraged to seek relevant paid work experience in vacations to complement their academic studies.
In their final year project, students investigate, design and implement a substantial computer application to address a practical real world problem.
Graduation requirements
To graduate students must complete 192 points (the equivalent of 24 standard subjects).
For students completing the integrated program, students will study at either the Albury-Wodonga or Wagga Wagga TAFE Campus and Charles Sturt University to graduate with three nationally recognised qualifications.
These qualifications include:
- Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) (ICA4045)
- Diploma of Information Technology (Networking) (ICA5045)
- Bachelor of Information Technology
