The Bachelor of Information Technology (Business Services) has been designed to provide a high quality and highly relevant academic program with industrial experience built-in. Students study a fully accredited Information Technology degree on campus in Bathurst and gain the equivalent of one year’s work experience with their host company integrated within the program. Students also receive a substantial $30,000 scholarship.
At this time, three companies IBM Australia, Country Energy and the Land and Property Management Authority have invested in this course by each providing scholarships to all students who meet the enrolment criteria. By mutual agreement, students may be offered a full-time position with their host company after graduation.

This course is designed to equip graduates with the skills and knowledge to work within a professional setting.
It has a core of information technology skills that will also provide professional recognition in the information technology industry generally. Students taking this course will be educated to a level that will provide entry to many industries, with the added advantage of 12 months equivalent work experience with IBM or its partners.
Students complete 64 points of industry project by working with IBM or partner on an industry relevant project. The industry project constitutes part of the student’s second, third and fourth year of the course.

CSU's industry partners, IBM, Country Energy and the NSW Department of Lands, provide a scholarship for each student of the Bachelor of Information Technology (Business Services). Students must apply for the scholarship when they submit their Application for Admission form through UAC.

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 256 points, comprising 192 points of academic subjects and 64 points of industry projects.

The core component of the course covers principles fundamental to the information systems and computing discipline such as databases, data communications, analysis and design and project work plus emerging directions that prepare students to undertake an IT major from a specified list.

NSW and interstate school leavers are normally selected on the basis of their Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) or interstate equivalent. You may also be admitted on the basis of a strong performance in subjects relevant to your course preferences.
Currently no secondary school subjects are prerequisites for admission to particular CSU courses however some courses assume a certain level of knowledge. This will be specified in the course information if applicable.

CSU places great emphasis on services to its students. It is a leader in the provision of online services and, in particular, the use of the internet in the support of teaching, administration and communications with students.
The online environment is so integrated into all aspects of student life and the learning experience at CSU that the University now assumes that all on campus and distance education students at CSU will have ongoing access to an internet connected computer capable of communicating with CSU online systems.
Students enrolled in Information Technology subjects (i.e. with an ITC subject code) may be required to have additional hardware and/or software that is deemed essential for the completion of the learning activities in that subject.
