Honours is available
This course has been developed to assist RNs' return to not just the workforce but to an exciting career in nursing. Nursing is at an exciting time in terms of education and employment opportunities. Nurses have the benefit of a wide range of courses available at all levels throughout Australia. These courses help RNs acquire additional qualifications at a university level to assist them in their career and everyday work.
Charles Sturt University (CSU) has played a leading role in nurse education in Australia. CSU was one of only three institutions that pioneered the introduction of nurse education in colleges and universities. The Bachelor degree for RNs commenced in 1986.
Note: Australian and international students who are RNs wishing to upgrade their hospital certificate or diploma qualification to a degree should consider CSU's Bachelor of Nursing Science (equivalent to a four-year degree). Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing Science can exit the course following the completion of the first three years with the Bachelor of Nursing (Post-Registration) which is the equivalent to a three-year nursing degree. The course is studied by distance education and does not contain a clinical program.
The Bachelor of Nursing (Re-entry) provides graduates with the opportunity to resume their careers in a wide range of nursing practice, education or management areas.
Completion of the Bachelor of Nursing (Re-entry) awards students the equivalent of a three-year degree that is a nationally accredited and registered award in tertiary education.
Students will obtain clinical experience in a variety of hospital facilities affiliated with CSU.
In recognition of the need for more highly skilled nurses in the workforce, the Australian government has introduced the National Nurse re-entry Scholarship valued at $6000 for registered nurses and midwives who have not practiced for three years or more to assist you in your studies and on the path back into the profession.
Applications close in October, and more information is available at: www.rcna.org.au/scholarships/nsp_re-entry
Distance education students attend compulsory residential schools for clinical subjects.
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 192 points, comprising the credit package of 128 points or 160 points awarded upon admission and, 64 points or 32 points, respectively, completed during enrolment in the course.
