Admission requirements

Applicants for the Bachelor of Primary Education Studies at CSU's Ontario Campus must hold a Bachelor degree from an accredited institution. Selection is based on both academic achievement and experiential learning.

Top-scoring applicants will be selected to attend a compulsory interview prior to final placements being offered.

If you completed your studies outside of Canada you will need to provide evidence of your English Language Proficiency.

Laptop requirement

Students accepted into the program will be required to have a laptop computer with a wireless internet connection. The following specifications are preferred:

Proof of freedom from active Tuberculosis

All students admitted to the Bachelor of Primary Education Studies program must provide proof of freedom from active tuberculosis. The test must not be dated prior to January 1 2009. Please download the form here.

Police Record Check

To be able to undertake the Bachelor of Primary Education Studies program, and successfully complete the practicum component in the schools, you are required by law to have a satisfactory Police Record Check prior to having direct contact with students and other vulnerable persons.

To obtain the necessary information and request a Police Record Check, go to the Ontario Education Services Corporation (OESC) website at www.oesc-cseo.org/English/about.html

READ the information regarding Police Record Check services, and how to apply. Click on the link for a College or University Student who needs an OESC ID Card for a placement in a school or other agency. READ the instructions carefully and download the relevant Consent & Payment forms.

Complete the Consent & Payment forms immediately and send them with your payment to the OESC in Toronto, as instructed on the forms.  The cost associated with this service and any appeals are to be borne by the applicant.

If your Police Record Check is satisfactory you will be issued with a wallet-sized Identification Card, allowing you to be placed in schools for the purpose of practicum. 

You must provide a photocopy of the OESC Identification Card to the University by August 1, 2009.  Fax to the Ontario campus on 905 333 6562.

NOTE: you cannot attend your school placement until confirmation of a satisfactory Police Record Check has been received.
