Course Structure
The Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) / Bachelor of Science double degree program is of 256 points duration, including the following:
- Bachelor of Science core compulsory subjects (24 points)
- Bachelor of Science major subject sequence (64 or 72 points)
- Bachelor of Science minor subject sequence (32 points)
- Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) Education Studies subjects (56 points)
- Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) Curriculum Studies subjects (16 points)
- Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) Professional Experience subjects (16 points)
- Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) Education option subject (8 points)
The remaining 40 or 32 points (according to the Bachelor of Science major chosen) are free elective subjects.

Bachelor of Science course requirements (192 points) are met in the double degree structure as follows:
- Core compulsory subjects (24 points)
- Major subject sequence (64 or 72 points)
- Minor subject sequence (32 points)
Free elective subjects - 72 or 64 points, according to the major chosen - 32 points of the Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) compulsory subjects can be credited towards this free elective component; the remaining 32 or 40 points (according to the Bachelor of Science major chosen) must be taken from subjects offered by the Faculty of Science, or from MTH, STA or ITC coded subjects;
Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) course requirements (192 points) are met in the double degree course structure as follows:
- Education Studies subjects (56 points)
- Curriculum Studies subjects (16 points)
- Professional Experience subjects (16 points)
- Education option subject (8 points)
Bachelor of Science major subject sequence (minimum of 64 points) can be credited towards the Discipline Major Studies component of the BTeach (Secondary) course.
Bachelor of Science minor subject sequence (32 points) can be credited towards the Discipline Minor Studies component of the Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) course.
