Additional Fees

Text books

You will need to buy prescribed textbooks, and may also wish to purchase additional books to help with your studies. Scientific texts can be purchased new with costs usually ranging between $100 and $150 each. Many texts books are also available second hand at a much lower cost.

Clothing and Equipment

You will also need to purchase protective clothing and possibly some special equipment. These are usually required within the first couple of weeks of commencing your course and you will be advised about this when you begin. An example of what you will need and the approximate costs include:

  • laboratory coat $50
  • overalls $60
  • boots $140
  • safety glasses $6

There may also be a small amount of other equipment you will need to purchase throughout your course.

Travel

In the first three years, students are required to travel to veterinary practices within a radius of about 100km of Wagga Wagga. Students will either need a car of their own or will travel with another student who may expect some contribution for travel expenses. The University does not contribute to these costs.

In the last three sessions of the course students will travel to several off campus locations in three week blocks of clinical rotations. Some funding is available to assist with these additional expenses.
