Bachelor of Applied Science (Viticulture) BAppSc(Viticulture)
CSU’s Bachelor of Applied Science (Viticulture) is designed for specialist vineyard management with extensive studies of viticulture, vine physiology, vine pests and diseases, water and soil management.

About the course
The Bachelor of Applied Science (Viticulture) is designed for specialist vineyard management with extensive studies of viticulture, vine physiology, vine pests and diseases, and water and soil management. A range of electives enables development of sensory skills, communication, wine production, resource management or marketing skills.
Where it will take you
Graduates occupy positions of responsibility within commercial enterprises and in public and private viticultural advisory services to the wine industry.

To make sure you are experienced using the equipment and techniques found in the workplace, our facilities include:
- state-of-the-art laboratory facilities
- the University’s 12ha commercial vineyard
- a fully-operational modern commercial winery that produces a range of award-winning wines
Practical experience
Students are required to gain experience in a commercial vineyard and winery to complete the requirements of the subject Winegrowing Experience.
Distance education applicants must have access to a fully developed vineyard and winery to complete the practical requirements of the course.
Residential school
Distance education students are required to attend residential schools at the University. These schools provide intensive teaching on the practical aspects of the course. Generally the schools take three to five days.
Distance education students working in New Zealand may in some instances be able to attend practical sessions at the Eastern Institute of Technology. There is a fee payable to the Eastern Institute of Technology for this option.
Science Scholarships
CSU's Science Scholarships are available for on campus applicants to this course, providing $4000 per annum for up to four years (subject to satisfactory progress). Once awarded the Scholarship, the money is the student's to spend in the way that assists them most.
Applicants must achieve a University Admissions Index (UAI)(NSW) or ENTER(VIC) of 80 and above (inclusive of the Regional Bonus) to be eligible to receive the Scholarship.
To apply, download the Science Scholarships application form, complete all sections, then return the form to the Scholarships Officer before the end of October in the year prior to commencing your studies.
Graduation requirements
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 192 points and meet all residential school and work experience requirements. Students will graduate from the Bachelor of Applied Science (Viticulture) with the award BAppSc(Viticulture).
Further study
Should you wish to further your study, opportunities for professional development include an Honours degree and progression through the Graduate Diploma of Applied Science (Agricultural Studies), Master of Applied Science and Doctor of Philosophy.
