CSTL Research Retreat April 9 and 10, 2005
Purpose
The first national research retreat in teacher librarianship has been planned and organised by The Centre for Studies in Teacher Librarianship (CSTL) at Charles Sturt University in cooperation with the Australian School Library Association (ASLA). This retreat will provide an opportunity for practising teacher librarians and academics to present research, discuss how to conduct research, and consider how to apply research findings. Following the recent publication of the Impact of School Libraries on Student Achievement: A Review of the Research by Michele Lonsdale, Australian Council for Educational Research, for ASLA (http://www.asla.org.au/research/) and the current interest in evidence based practice and action research by those active in the teacher librarianship field, the time is right for beginning this important national research conversation.
