"The workplace learning component of CSU's Bachelor of Sport Studies / Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) has been the biggest learning experience of my degree. The lecturers at CSU get to know students individually and become aware of our interests and career aspirations.
"My lecturer encouraged me to secure a workplace learning opportunity with the Australian Olympic Committee, enabling me to pursue my passion of working within the media department of a national sporting body. Subsequent to my placement with the AOC, I was offered a paid internship for 2016 as part of the AOC communications team in the Sydney headquarters.
"In the lead-up to the Olympics I am working two days a week from Bathurst, where I am completing my third year of study. Throughout the Olympics I will be based at the Sydney headquarters honing my skills in writing athlete biographies, managing photo galleries and assisting with digital content.
"We learn the theory and practice of journalism at university, but you only really understand it properly when you use it in real life, which is why I believe CSU's workplace learning and job-ready focus is so crucial."
