CSU Live Testimonial

"I live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and studying with Charles Sturt University (CSU) felt quite personal to me.  Originally from NSW, I liked having a connection with a NSW university and I believe regional universities can offer a distinctly personal service.  I was looking for online education, flexible delivery, no compulsory residential component and subjects which were interesting and relevant.  I also needed a user-friendly website and easy access to administration.

"I’ve been a registered nurse for over 25 years and predominately employed in the aged care sector.  I worked full-time for the majority of my three years of study.  Fitting study in with work and my personal life was the most challenging issue for me.  I had to be very motivated and determined, especially as an online learner.  This was made easier with the range of interesting subjects and streams to choose from.  The advantage for me was the flexibility and being able to fit in study with work and home life when it suited me.

"I enrolled in the Graduate Certificate of Gerontology to formalise my many years’ experience in aged care and initially I didn’t think I would continue onto my Masters.  Completing the Graduate Certificate assisted me in applying for a Quality Assessor position with the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency, a role I held for 12 months.  Although it wasn’t an essential qualification to have, it was beneficial for me to have a tertiary qualification in aged care which showed my knowledge and commitment to quality in the sector.

"I am currently employed as the Quality Registered Nurse for a residential aged care home.  I am also working as an External Quality Assessor for the Quality Agency.  I apply the knowledge gained through my studies on a daily basis to empower and inform staff and residents alike.

"My most memorable CSU experience is achieving higher than a pass in many subjects and completing a Master’s degree – something I never thought I’d be able to do.  I honestly don’t know where the Master’s will take me; however, it is a huge personal achievement for me and means a lot to my family.

"CSU is a University that is definitely worth considering especially if you want to be an online student.  If you are looking for a University with a high standard of quality in teaching, resources and accessibility with opportunities to study a wide range of interesting subjects and assessments that are relevant to current practice, then contact CSU."
