Master of Information Studies

"When selecting the Master of Information Studies, I compared the subjects available at Charles Sturt University (CSU) with those offered at other institutions and found CSU’s to be more interesting. I also liked the range of specialisations available in the course.

"I currently work full-time as an Education and Youth Librarian and study part time. My studies are absolutely relevant to my role and have been very useful for my professional development. As I have practical knowledge of many of the things I am studying, it’s great to understand the theoretical background. I’ve also learnt new things that I’m able to apply to my everyday work practice. My course has been integral to my career development as it has enabled me to gain employment as a Librarian. It has also opened up the world of information services, exposing me to other fields within my discipline that I had not previously considered for my career path.

"I really enjoyed my study visit subject in which I was able to gain access to information services around Melbourne – the Federal Court Law Library and Melbourne Museum Discovery Centre were the highlights. I was also able to make some wonderful friends that I have kept in touch with, as well as build my professional network.

"I like studying online as there are fewer constraints on my time, which is invaluable in managing work and life commitments. Whilst I still have deadlines, I’m able to work through subjects at a pace and time that suits me.  I’m very excited to be completing my work placement next year at the Australian Film Television and Radio School!"
