“CSU’s Bachelor of Nursing is about getting the skills we need to be able to go out in the field straight after we graduate and competently work as a registered nurse. A lot of the subjects in our course are aimed at clinical practice, however we also have specialty subjects in things like indigenous health, paediatric health or primary health care, as well as subjects like research that prepare you for further education if that’s the path you want to take.
“Once you graduate, there is a huge array of jobs and fields you can go into. Most of the jobs lie in hospitals in clinical practice, but you can work in a GP practice, you can work for a pharmaceutical company, you can work with community health or mental health in the community, and other great thing is you can take these skills overseas with an internationally recognised course.
“In the short-term I have always wanted to travel and this degree has given me skills I can take into varying fields overseas. In the long-term I plan to enter the education sector and maybe further my education and look into neonatal intensive care.
“The initial attraction to CSU was its availability for me. I grew up in Wagga Wagga but it wasn’t until after starting at CSU that I became aware of the flexibility that’s involved with the degree. I did my first year on campus and got to use some great facilities and had access to all of the student services. I am still an on campus student in the first half of the year, and an online student in the second half of the year, and I can still access the services CSU has to offer. This has allowed me to work part-time in a ski resort, which I absolutely love.
“Students at CSU are local, national and international, so I found it easy to find friends as everyone at CSU is here to help one another. A lot of people are looking for accommodation so there are always people looking at moving in together, and before you know it, you have a really good circle of friends all achieving the same thing and you have something in common with them
“The thing I like best is the flexibility CSU offers and that I can get a very high-standard education while pursuing other things that are important to me. I would recommend CSU to other students in a heartbeat, particularly to people who need the flexibility of online education.”
