Proposed 2013 program

This two-week program to Kunming (in Yunnan Province) offers you the opportunity to experience the culture, business and language of China; the strongest emerging economic power in the world. The host university of this program is located in Kunming city, which is the capital of Yunnan Province and a centre for transport, science and technology in modern China. It was the gateway to the celebrated Silk Road that facilitated trade with Tibet, Sichuan, Myanmar and India. 

During the program, students will participate in:

• Informative sessions on Chinese economy and business at the Yunnan University of Finance and Economics;
•Group tours in local businesses to understand the Chinese business culture;
• Interactive Chinese language lessons;
• Chinese cultural activities.

When: 22 June – 7 July 2013

Eligibility: Bachelor of Business students (Please liaise with your Course Coordinator to confirm your eligibility). Double degree students or non Faculty of Business students must liaise with the relevant Course Director and Program Leader PK Basu for eligibility advice.

Credit: Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible for subject credit in MGT363 (an open elective subject for all Business courses). This will require payment of a subject tuition fee and satisfactory participation and completion of specified assessment items. Non business degree students muse liaise with the relevant Course Director to seek credit for this program.

Number of places available: 10-20

NB. This program will require 10 students to proceed.

Program Cost: approx $1400 * 

*The $500 Vice Chancellor Travel Grant (for eligible undergraduate students) is not awarded directly to individuals but has already been included in program costings. 

Please note: Chinese nationals undertaking this program are not eligible to receive the Vice Chancellor Travel Grant.

Costs should include: Program fee, international flights, accommodation, insurance, most meals, visas (for domestic students)

Costs do not include CSU subject fees.

Please note all CSU Global Programs are group ticketed.  Your program will depart from Sydney and return to Sydney on the dates listed.

Application Timeline:

  • Applications close: 3 May
  • Successful students notified (email): 6 May
  • Full Payment date: 10 May 
  • Passports required for visa processing: 10 May
    (Please note it normally takes 4-6 weeks to obtain a passport, although an express service is available at a higher cost)
  • Pre-departure session: TBA
