Fiji International Short Term Program Information

Program Details

Students will undertake a range of activities at St Christopher's Orphanage in Fiji.

St Christopher's is run by an Anglican Order of Sisters, the Community of the Sacred Name. The majority of the children at the Home are orphans and the other children are there because they have been abused, neglected, abandoned by their families, or for a time may need time away from their families.

The aims of the trip are:

  • To encourage and enable the participating students to use their skills in a voluntary capacity in a developing nation.
  • To develop the leadership skills of participants as they work with the young people in St Christopher's Home.
  • Through the enculturation program offered by The Pacific Theological College it is hoped that students will learn and better understand the issues facing poorer nations as well as learn more about another culture.
  • To enable students to learn more about themselves and how they can be more effective in their own communities - especially rural Australia, once they have completed their studies with CSU.
