International Experience Program: Maori School Experience, New Zealand
Faculty of Education
Proposed 2013 program
This project is open to Indigenous Teacher Education students who have a keen interest in education and who identify as Indigenous Australians.
The program will allow the Indigenous students to experience the Maori language and culture in a school context. The students will be able to view the differences between their experiences in Australia as Indigenous Australians, and the situation in New Zealand.
Students will undertake an intensive language and culture course at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi: Indigenous University, followed by several days in a school.
