International Professional Experience Program: Library Study Visits, Singapore

Proposed 2013 program
Students will spend four days in Singapore visiting a range of libraries and information agencies through a structured program of visits at a diverse range of information organisations, including Singapore National Library, Nanyang Technological University library, Singapore Press Holding library, and Tanglin Trust School libraries. This study visit provides an outstanding opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how various information agencies function to service a particular clientele, and also an understanding of the career opportunities available within the profession abroad. This four-day study visit is a complete tour package, which includes an evening cultural dinner experience.
Program Dates: 2 September - 5 September, 2013
Number of places: 10 - 20 students
NB. This program will require 10 students to proceed.
Program Cost:
Approx: $1100 - Australian and Australian based international students* (exact costs TBC)
Approx: $335 - Singapore based students not requiring accommodation (exact costs TBC)
*Students may be eligible to receive the Vice Chancellor Travel Grant valued at $500. Further details regarding this funding is available here.
Costs should include:
$1100 package: Full program fees for Singapore, airport transfers, 5 nights accommodation in a double room at the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel, 5 Coleman Street Singapore (1-6 September), tour bus for each day, breakfasts, lunches and one evening dinner.
$335 package: Full program fees for Singapore, tour bus for each day, some meals
Costs do not include CSU subject fees, airfares, visas (where applicable), insurance, vaccinations (where applicable), passport fees, additional meals, sightseeing and excursions
Please note: This is an individually ticketed program (students to purchase their own flights and travel insurance, visas and passports).

- International Cultural and Education Program EEB310*
*All students who join the study visit are eligible to enrol in EEB310. This is an online module that consists of a series of readings designed to assist students to prepare for the intercultural program. To satisfy the requirements of the subject students are required to engage with the readings, participate fully in the program and to submit a reflective piece to the CSU program leader outlining the learnings/understandings arising from program participation. This is a 0 credit point subject and it does not attract a fee. The International Cultural and Education Program subject will be recorded on the student’s transcript.
