Program Summary: The School of Biomedical Sciences and Global is excited to offer  CSU Paramedic students the opportunity to "Cross the Ditch' and experience life as a paramedic in New Zealand. This program will offer the full cultural experience of living and working in many different environments, from small East Cape communities to the bustle of Auckland and earthquake ravaged Christchurch. 

Students will not only have an opportunity to work on the road, but will also experience some of the fun that only NZ and the great outdoors has to offer, including jet boats, bungy and other dare devil opportunities! Numbers are definitely limited to 20.

When: 1 November - 16 November 2013 (exact dates to be confirmed)

Eligibility: Students enrolled in a CSU Paramedic program (including double degree students)

Credit: Students may be eligible to receive credit of 40 hours of road placement time - to be spent with St John ambulance (To Be Confirmed). This can be credited toward placement hours in subjects CLS103, CLS203, CLS302 or CLS411.   Students who have not yet completed their elective subject may be able to claim credit towards SCI301. Please contact your Course Director for credit approval.

NB: This program will require 10 students to proceed.

Cost: approx $2400* (exact costs to be confirmed)

*The $500 Vice Chancellor Travel Grant (for eligible students) is not awarded directly to students but has already been included in program costings. Further information on the Vice Chancellor Travel Grant is available here.

Costs should include: Program fee, international flights, accommodation, in-country transport, insurance*, some site-seeing costs. 

* The CSU insurance package will not cover more extreme recreational activities as indicated in the program summary above.  Students will need to purchase additional coverage should they wish to undertake such activities. 

Costs do not include: CSU subject fees, additional sightseeing costs or meals

Please note: All CSU Global programs are group ticketed.  Your program will depart from Sydney and return to Sydney on the dates listed.

  • Application closing date: 23 August, 2013
  • Successful students notified (via email): late August, 2013
  • $1000 non-refundable deposit due: 6 September, 2013
  • Final and full payment due: 20 September, 2013
    (You MUST have obtained your passport prior to this date. Please note it may take 4-6 weeks to obtain a passport)
