Proposed 2013 program

This program will trial village level educational theatre with the aim of explaining and promoting higher-yielding seed varieties to subsistence farmers and informing them of best agricultural practice. CSU students will work in conjunction with staff from Seeds of Life (an Australian government-funded agricultural project) on these performances and skills-share with local Timorese theatre students.

This program is partially funded by the Australian Government’s Study Overseas Short-term Mobility Program through the Department of Innovation Science, Research and Tertiary Education. CSU recognises the support of the Australian Government in providing targeted funds which have subsidised the cost of this program to students.

When: 30 June - July 10, 2013

Eligibility: Master of Sustainable Agriculture (MSA) by special approval and 2nd and 3rd year students enrolled in the Bachelor of Communication (Theatre/Media).

Credit: Credit arrangements for MSA students to be advised if applicants are accepted.Theatre/Media students may be eligible for non-specific elective credit.  Please contact your Course Director for credit approval.

NB: This program will require 6 students to proceed.

Cost: Approx 1300*
*The $500 Vice Chancellor Travel Grant (for eligible students) is not awarded directly to students but has already been included in program costings.

Costs should include: Program fee, international flights, accommodation, meals, visa (for those travelling on Australian passports), insurance, translator/guide.
Costs do not include CSU subject fee or airport-hotel transfers.

Please note: All CSU Global programs are group ticketed.  Your program will depart from Sydney and return to Sydney on the dates listed.

Application time-line:

  • Application closing date: 22 March, 2013
  • Auditions (Theatre/Media students only): 22 - 24 April, 2013
  • Successful students notified (via email): 26 April
    (You MUST have obtained your passport prior to this date. Please note it can take 4 - 6 weeks to obtain a new passport. Those with existing passports must check it has a minimum of 6mth validity from the program return date)
  • $500 non-refundable deposit due: 3 May, 2013
  • Final and full payment due: 10 May, 2013
  • Pre departure session: TBA
