Service Disruption Details

ID: 10876

Type: Unplanned

Description:
SENDING EMAIL EXTERNALLY – The University email servers have become “Blacklisted” (blocked) by various organisations due to some staff falling victim to Phishing Email scams and having their login details (username and password) compromised. DIT recommends that for important emails to external email addresses turning on delivery and read receipts to confirm that your email was both delivered and read. For information of how to do this please click this link http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/outlook-help/get-delivery-and-read-receipt-confirmations-HP010080428.aspx

DIT have confirmed that Yahoo and GMail addresses are working. 'Hotmail' addresses are now working. Messagelabs (Symantec) are now working. MailMarshal SpamProfiler still have us blacklisted.

Staff

Other ways to access this service:
A definitive list of organisations that have blacklisted the University is impossible to determine. If you have received an email advising your email was undeliverable or blacklisted you will either have to try and send from a non-CSU email address or wait for the blacklisting to end. Most blacklists will remove the listing after 24hrs. Some blacklists do not provide any notification that your email was rejected.
