Library servicesCSU's Library website is your gateway to a huge range of online resources, providing you with library services any time, anywhere. With access to thousands of electronic resources, audio-visual material, books, and journals you'll have all the resources you need to get the most out of your degree.

Online collections

The CSU Library collection is available online. Distance education students can access :

  • thousands of ebooks and ejournals, dictionaries and encyclopaedias, multimedia and course readings and course readings via eReserve
  • short videos, interactive tutorials, podcasts and FAQs on how to use the Library and find resources for your assignments
  • up-to-date news information on what is happening in your Library via RSS feeds, the Library blog, newsletters, twitter and podcasts.

Library staff are also able to post, or scan and email, book chapters and other physical resources to distance education students in Australia, and to students living overseas who are currently enrolled through an Australian CSU campus.

What can I borrow?

  • You can borrow up to 20 items, for 28 days per book and 14 days for DVDs and videos
  • Book loans can be renewed up to four times, and DVDs or videos once only
  • You can also request copies of book chapters and journal articles that are only available in print form

Can I have items sent to my home address?

Yes

  • The Library posts books to distance education students living overseas who are currently enrolled through an Australian CSU campus. Consult the Library website for more information
  • Library items will be delivered by Australia Post to domestic students and Australia Post International Courier Service to overseas distance education students
  • the Library will pay the postage cost to send items out. You are responsible for the return postage charges. Library items should be returned in padded envelopes.
  • DVDs and videos will not be posted outside of Australia
  • this service does not extend to students studying through CSU Offshore partner and affiliated institutions

Interlibrary loans

Distance education students living in Australia are eligible for interlibrary loans, but there is a charge. Copy requests can be delivered electronically worldwide but charges may apply. You can borrow from other Australian universities under the University Library Australia's (ULA) national borrowing scheme for students and staff. Please refer to the ULA website for more information. Distance education students living outside of Australia are not eligible.

Can I get help with using the library?

Library staff support

You can interact with library staff and have your questions answered by calling 1800 808 369, opt for 'live chat' or complete a web form.

Research students can use the Book a Librarian form to book a one-on-one consultation with a librarian to develop their research information skills.
