Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)

Professor Garry Marchant.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the activities of the Faculties, the Division of Student Learning, the Division of International Education and Partnerships as well as the Office of Academic Governance. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) is a member of the Senior Executive Committee of the University.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) works closely with Academic Senate, the Faculties and relevant Divisions in the development and monitoring of learning and teaching within the University and the University's course profile. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) is responsible for CSU's Course Plan and Learning & Teaching Plan.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) is the presiding officer of the Unviersity Course Planning Committee; the Curriculum, Learning and Teaching Committee and the Information and Learning Systems Committee. Other roles include:
- Implementation of the University's Performance Based Funding model for Faculties;
- Oversight of academic staff development programs, including the Special Studies Program;
- Approval of Outside Professional Activities involving learning and teaching;
- Presiding officer of the University Academic Staff Promotions Committee;
- Presiding officer of the EO/AA Committee;
- In conjunction with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research); holds responsibility for developing, monitoring, reviewing and reporting on Charles Sturt University's International Strategy. In close collaboration with Academic Senate and Faculty Deans, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) promotes internationalisation of the curriculum, the development of strategic institutional linkages, support for student mobility and the provision of flexible and inclusive teaching and learning for international students.
Professor Marchant is also a member of the Board of the University's Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture; as well as a member of the joint police-university Boards which collaboratively manage the University's police programs.
