About
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research) is Head of the Centre for Research and Graduate Training and is responsible for the administration of research and research training at Charles Sturt University. The Centre has 13 staff and assists and supports academic staff and research higher degree students. It aims to enhance CSU's Research performance, profile and culture, to facilitate a positive learning experience for research students leading to successful completions and to oversee consultancies, commercialisation, intellectual property and outside profession activity.
Roles
- Development and implementation of a strategy and program for the admission, management and training of graduate students and re-accreditation of supervisors.
- Oversight, direction and accreditation of the University's Research Centres and Groups including Special Research Centres.
- Represent the University at meetings of the Deputy/Pro-Vice-Chancellor's (Research), Directors and Deans of Graduate Studies Co-operative Research Centre Boards, Australian Research Council.
- Design and implementation of a staff development program relating to research and consultancy, including communication, contracting and negotiation and IP management.
- Develop a strategy for the communication of research and graduate training activities with Faculties and Campus Heads, including outreach into the community.
Specific Responsibilities
- Oversight of the Centre for Research and Graduate Training as its Executive Officer.
- Development and implementation of a University wide research and research training strategy which is responsive to Government policy and directions including preparation and implementation of the University's Research and Research Training Management Plan.
- Development and implementation of a strategy and program for the admission, management and training of graduate students and re-accreditation of supervisors.
- Oversight, direction and accreditation of the University's Research Centres and Groups including Special Research Centres.
- Oversight and direction of the Research Management Committee and Board of Graduate Studies including acting as Presiding Officer for both Committees.
- Responsibility for the management of the University's policies on Outside Professional Activities and Intellectual Property, inclusive of maintenance, development, approvals and effective committee structures and operation. Presiding Officer of Intellectual Property and Outside Professional Activities Committee.
- Represent the University at meetings of the Deputy/Pro-Vice-Chancellor's (Research), Directors and Deans of Graduate Studies Co-operative Research Centre Boards, Australian Research Council.
- Design and implementation of a staff development program relating to research and consultancy, including communication, contracting and negotiation and IP management.
- Develop a strategy for the communication of research and graduate training activities with Faculties and Campus Heads, including outreach into the community.
- Undertake projects assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
- Maintain credibility in an area of expertise by limited research and publication.
