Transitioning to the New CSU VoIP Phone System

The project team are in the process of piloting the new CSU VoIP phone system, and determining the process that will be used to transition users onto the system. Once the transition process is developed and tested, an implementation plan will be designed to transition the University over to the new system.

The first users of the CSU VoIP phone system are the new Residential accommodation buildings in Bathurst, Thurgoona and Wagga Wagga After the pilot phase of the project is complete, early adopters with a strong case to use the additional functionality of the new phone system will be transitioned onto the new system. A timeline of transition for the university will be published on this site when available.

The Division of Information Technology will compile a list of staff members within each school/section, this list will be emailed to a Champion within each of these schools/sections so that the information can be verified. The Champion within each section will be asked go through this list and ensure all specific details of phone users are correct. The Champion will also be asked to give details of other phones located in your area. This list will then be emailed back to Information Technology with any updated information.  Information Technology will then arrange a meeting with the Manager/Champion of the school/section to determine their business needs. At this meeting a date for deployment will be agreed upon.

A staff member from Information Technology will arrive at a time arranged by your Manager/Director/HOS to install your new phone and any associated software.

During this process your computer will have no access to the network and you will be unable to receive or make calls for a period of 10 – 15 minutes.

Information Technology requests that you be present during this process, if this is not possible a representative on your behalf such as a Champion/Administrative Assistant/Secretary is desired.

At the end of the deployment process, documentation will be provided and any queries can be directed to the IT Service Desk.
