Install Software
All staff computers have a shortcut on the desktop called Install Software. You do not require installers rights to run software installations from this location. A variety of software is available including CSU Computer Shop purchases. When new standard software packages are made available in this area a notification appears to advise you.
If you experience problems with software from this location you can use the the same process detailed below to repair or reinstall it yourself.
Process for Installing Software
- Save any open files and close all applications.
- Double-click the ‘Install Software’ icon on your desktop. You can also go to your Control Panel and double-click the ‘Run Advertised Programs’ icon.
- A window will open on your screen called ‘Run Advertised Programs’ and will display the list of available software. Click on the software you wish to Install or re-install to select it from the list and then click ‘Run’.

Select software and click Run to begin installation.
- The CSU software notification window will open as shown below. Ensure there are no open applications as advised in step 1 before proceeding with the installation. Click ‘Run Now’ to begin the installation from the window pictured below.

- When the software installation is complete you will receive the ‘Software Installation Complete’ notification, click OK to complete the installation.

New Software Packages
When new software packages are made available for install you will receive a ‘Notification Bubble’ with the message ‘A new program is available to be run’.
You simply need to click on the notification bubble and the ‘Run Advertised Programs’ window will launch. From here you can choose the software you require and start the install as per the above process.
