Computing Laboratories

General Lab Information | Available Software | Campus Specific

Introduction

All staff and students are welcome to use the CSU computing laboratories and facilities.  Depending on the campus, DIT provides PCs and Macintosh computers with a range of standard software, internet access and printing facilities.  Many campuses provide an IT 'Hot Spot' staffed by people who can assist you with any lab issue. Other labs may have a phone that links to the IT Service Desk for assistance.

Additional student access points are available in the libraries at the various campuses. These machines can access the web but they only have basic software installed compared to the computer centres.

Remember that you will need your login and password to access the computers and the internet and printing services.

The Computer Centres at Albury/Thurgoona, Bathurst and Wagga provide 24 hour access.  These labs are accessible with an authorised student ID card. Your student cards can be authorised at the enquiry counters at the centres in business hours.

Rules

To ensure a safe and comfortable environment, the following rules apply at all labs

Booking Rooms

Staff may request room bookings by including relevant details on session timetable information sheets that go to the timetable officer, if the booking is to apply (for internal students) for a significant proportion of a given session. Class timetables have priority over casual bookings. Details of the weeks room bookings are displayed on the Computer Centre noticeboards.

For Residential School bookings contact the appropriate person in the Learning Materials Centre on your campus.

Printing & Internet Access

A central printing room is located at each of the campuses with laser printers. Check with the centres as to where the colour laser is situated. These facilities are only fully available during the period in which the general access laboratories are staffed.  You should note that there are commercial charges for printing at CSU. All computers have internet access as well.  You should note that there are commercial charges for accessing the internet.  More
