Thin Client - What's in it for me?

Thin Client computing creates many opportunities and advantages for both you and CSU, for example:

Extend the life of desktop computers

Computers age very quickly these days. Often, after several years, while they still run, they can't run the latest programs. You can use your old computer to access Thin Client where you will be able to run these programs.

Access CSU desktop and P&S drives from anywhere (staff only)

You can have full access to CSU software and drives on your computer at home on a PC or a Mac. In fact you can access it from anywhere as long as you have access to the internet.

Special applications for staff and students

Instead of having hundreds of copies of certain software on many individual computers, DIT can negotiate special licenses with suppliers to provide this type of software on central servers for everyone to access via Thin Client.

Common tools such as Office

No matter how old your computer, everyone at CSU can access the latest applications/software through thin client.

Mac Users

You can use thin client to access CSU corporate software. You can run a PC version Outlook session in a Mac Window (OSX or higher is required)

Minimise maintenance costs

a tremendous advantage for CSU is the fact that Thin Client Services are considerably cheaper to operate and maintain than traditional methods.
