Adobe Captivate
Reasons for using Captivate
Captivate facilitates the production of engaging learning resources that offer students the opportunity to interact with the materials in a variety of ways. The ability to incorporate quizzes into demonstrations or presentations, the capacity to encourage deeper thinking skills by offering student simulated scenarios with branching capabilities or simply to demonstrate a difficult process offers students flexibility in access and in delivery for different learning styles.
There is simple access to Captivate files through a browser so students need no special equipment to view the files. This program offers students, whether internal or distance, flexible and blended learning opportunities no matter their location. Without needing specialised programming or multimedia skills, you can blend text, audio and visual components for an engaging learning experience.
This site links a series of self paced modules that will step you through the processes of creating a range of Captivate projects. Each module contains a different task or project for you to follow to learn the diverse aspects of Captivate capabilities. The modules range from a simple conversion of Power Point enhanced by audio narration to complex blended projects incorporating text, audio, video and branching scenarios.
Each module escalates in increasingly complex tasks. Plan your project well with the help of your educational designer and/ or educational technologist first.
