Module Four
Images, text captions and rollovers
Images
When creating resources it is important to remember how people view electronic material. Inserting images can help to focus attention, break up text and lead the viewers eyes to a desired point in the text. This module leads you through the process of adding images to your Captivate presentation.
Backgrounds
Slide backgrounds can be made any colour or an image inserted to create the background. You can use the CSU PowerPoint template as a background to your slides. Changing the backgrounds may help engage the interest of the viewer or using images may help contextualise the content.
Text Captions
Text captions can be inserted to give instructions in a demonstration, to point out issues, or explain elements in the slide. They can be formatted to grab attention and there can be multiple captions simultaneously or staggered in appearance on the screen. This may help to get students attention at different points in the presentation.
Rollover Captions
Hovering over a caption can reveal tooltips, answers or directives without having the information constantly in the frame of the screen. This helps un-clutter the slide. It can also encourage students to look for information and interact with the presentation.
Rollover Images
Rolling over images allows two images to be compared, for example, two charts as in the Module 4 demonstration. But it also could be used to view different specimems in Biomed or two different leaf forms in Botany.
Table of Contents
The ability to navigate around a project is made easier by inserting a table of contents. This means that students can use the resource more easily for revision and study. Each slide can be labelled to show content.
